EXmas Afdah will not deviate from the norm and become a remarkable Christmas film. Nevertheless, it does offer a few amusing moments, a decent storyline, and some interesting concepts that make it worth watching at least once.

The story combines elements from The Holiday and Christmas With The Cranks, creating a simple yet engaging narrative. Meet Graham, a workaholic who is feeling down after his ex-fiancée Ali breaks up with him. To add to his troubles, he is assigned a major work project that needs to be completed by Christmas. Determined to get it done, Graham decides to work throughout the holiday season.

But then, he has a change of heart and makes the decision to travel to Minnesota and visit his family. However, there’s a slight issue. It appears that his mother has invited Ali to spend the Christmas season with them. Ali and Graham clash, leading them to make a wager in an attempt to prove that the other is wicked and doesn’t belong to the family, all before Christmas morning arrives.

The concept is straightforward, but things become more complicated when new romantic partners, Jess and Brady, are introduced for our main characters. Unfortunately, this aspect is the weakest part of the entire film, and it seems like even the writers are aware of it.

The storytelling lacks impact and, in my opinion, would have been better if completely removed to focus on the family dynamics and playful conversations. The family’s constant bickering and theatrics truly steal the show in this comedic drama. It’s filled with genuine moments that will make you burst into laughter, and the humor hits all the right notes as well.
